Birth of BIKUNU
Passionate about Polynesia, in 2014 we created the "Tahitian Adventure" and organize Polynesian pirogue excursions on the turquoise waters of the CĂ´te d'Azur to help you discover its beauty.
Exposed to the sun for long hours every day, I affectionately called Alexandra " my little deer " because of the white triangle on her buttocks formed by the mark of the swimsuit. She made fun of me by saying that she could read in bed by the light of my buttocks .
The idea was born
Our vision
Based on this experience, we imagined a range of swimsuits made from a technical textile that filters harmful rays to let only tanning rays pass through, simple and elegant designs, allowing you to obtain an even tan and which suit most people. The patterns are inspired by the colors of the CĂ´te d'Azur.
Production would be carried out exclusively in France and with the participation of workshops employing people with disabilities or in integration situations.
After months of research and testing we created the first BIKUNU collection in September 2021.
Certified technology
The textile technology used to make men's and women's swimsuits is patented ( see the patent ) but this is not enough to obtain a beautiful tan, which is why we work in collaboration with a laboratory specialized in measuring textile UV rays, to define the optimal printing quality to preserve all the characteristics of the fabric.
Spectrometric Analysis
Printed fabrics are tested in the laboratory according to the European standard EN13758-1 using a spectrometer to measure the amounts of UVA and UVB that pass through the material. These measurements allow us to determine the optimal color ranges and intensities to guarantee optimal tanning in complete safety.
These measurements also allow us to scientifically demonstrate Bikunu technology with a complete report and a Solar Efficiency Certificate .
Ultra fast drying
Bikunu Men's & Women's swimsuits dry quickly, making them always comfortable on the skin for extended use at the water's edge.
Lightness and naked feeling
Designed to be soft, lightweight and breathable, offering a fresh feeling and optimal comfort, they make you forget you're wearing a swimsuit. Naked feeling guaranteed.
Protection against harmful UV rays
The fabric selects only the UV A & B needed for tanning. It offers very good protection with a UPF15+ index, protecting against the harmful effects of the sun's rays. The fabric acts like a sunscreen.
